General Notes: | |
1.) | IS issues with analog bodies: There seem to be some minor incompatibilities and dysfunctionalities when using IS lenses with their IS activated on older analog EOS camera models. See EOS Documentation Project for details (via archive.org, slightly different for the 75-300mm F4.0-5.6 IS USM here). |
2.) | When mounting any of the zoom lenses below to an EOS 40D, 50D, 60D or 7D, the peripheral AF points will not function as cross-types. Vertical and horizontal lines will be detected separately (less accurate and a bit slower). This is due to the optical characteristics of the lenses and the cameras' AF sensors, the issue can't be fixed. The affected lenses are:
|
3.) | It is not recommended to use IS on tripods. Therefor some of the IS lenses feature tripod detection to switch off IS automatically. |
4.) | Discontinuation data according to Canon Hong Kong |
5.) | Canon Production Codes typically consisting of 2 letters and 4 numbers can be decoded as follows:
|
6.) | The firmware of some charges of the Canon EF 300mm F2.8L IS II USM, 400mm F2.8L IS II USM, 500mm F4.0L IS II USM and 600mm F4.0L IS II USM can be updated to v1.1.1 (factory service) to enhance the responsiveness for more precise focus adjustment, especially in AI servo mode. Applicable to EF300 SN 790xxxxxxx to 913xxxxxxx, EF400 SN 790xxxxxxx to 913xxxxxxx, EF500 SN 880xxxxxxx to 910xxxxxxx, EF600 SN 880xxxxxxx to 910xxxxxxx. |
7.) | Refer to Still Lenses C/EF > Canon EF > Accessories for genuine Canon lens accessories. |
8.) | See the processing log. Additions are welcome. |
