Allied Vision Canon EF Adapter
GE Series Field Kit [#02-5026B] Compatible with Canon EF, EF-S, Tamron DI and Di-II lenses. The lens mount has full electronic coupling for manual, remote or automatic mode, controlled via RS232 port of the camera or directly via PC (not just same concept like the Birger EF Mount - it IS a Birger EF232).
GX Series Field Kit [#02-5031A]
  • AVT also offers a factory conversion for brand new ordered GX series cameras as well as for GE 4000 and 4900 (although the other GEs are basically compatible as well).
  • The Birger mount for the GX 3300 is Birger #RD-EF1-AG1-RS1, while #RD-EF1-AP1-RS1 is just listed by Birger as the proper mount for Prosilicas in general (?).

General Notes:
1.) Some company and series history: The Prosilica series are based on products once designed by Prosilica Inc., a canadian company founded in 2003 and taken over by AVT in 2008. In 2009 the old Prosilica product lines were finally rebranded to AVT and Prosilica remained as the name of the series. Models produced before the Vision Trade Fair 2009 come painted in Prosilica blue, everything produced later comes in AVT red. I'm not sure how far this really concerns the actual GX series since it was introduced in 2009 by AVT. The GE series is definitely older. Both GE and GX series are content in the referring AVT press announcement about the incorporating process, however.
The original Prosilica Inc. GE series started shipping in 2006 with GE650, GE1350, GE1380 and GE1600 (CCD cameras in monochrome or color ranging from VGA to 2 Mpix and full-res. frame rates up to 200fps). They were the first GigE cameras conforming to the AIA GigE Vision standard on the market. At that time they already offered the SDK and Sample Image Viewer as software shipped with the cameras (Mac OS X versions for both (!!) since 2008). In 2007 the GE680, 1650, 1900, 2040 and 4900 followed, in 2008 the 1050 and 1910, in 2009 the 1660. A late press release from 2009-04 finally mentions 28 models in the old GE series ranging from VGA to 16Mpx, which is actually a few more in number than AVT finally took over. Some of the models had identical specs compared to their AVT successors. Other models differ slightly, e.g. a GE4000 datasheet from 2008 states shutter speeds of 140µs - 60s, size of 66 x 66 x 63mm, weight of 391g and no RGB/YUV output. And even more important: None of the available documents or articles mentions an optional Canon EF mount upgrade. Seems like this was invented by AVT.

The 2014's Bonito Technical Manual lists some camera order codes not found anywhere else. They refer to a CMC-4000 (#1064002 for EF-mount) and CMC-4000C (#1064012 for EF-mount). CMC-4000 is a camera invented by VDS Vosskühler in 2010. Googleing on VDS and AVT reveals, that VDS merged into AVT during 2011 and AVT integrated a big part of their product line into their own portfolio. An old VDS CMC-4000 datasheet shows the same technical specifications like the Bonitos, AVT just added the Canon EF mount option and that hot red paint once again. The CMC-4000's where discontinued in 2017, but not the Bonitos. Counting 1 to 2 you might stumble across Bonitos, that identify themselfs as CMC-4000 instead of as a Bonito.
2.) AVT GE, GT and GX models by default come with monochrome CCDs, but all of them are available as -C(olor) editions as well. The cameras further come with C mount (small sized sensor models) or F mount (GX 3300 and full frame sensor models and probably GE 2040 did as well, sources differ) and must either be custom ordered with Canon EF mount (indicated by the -09 at the end of the corresponding prod. ID) or be converted using the optional Field Adapter Kits. The cameras can be operated fully manually or automatically (exposure, white balance, gain (image brightness and contrast)), extended features include stream control, binning (up to 8px) and ROI readout (Region Of Interest, only a part of the image data delivered by the sensor will be transferred, thus allowing for higher transfer (and frame) rates). AVT provides the PvAPI Software Development Kit and the GigE Sample Viewer for Windows for out of the box experience.
Of the AVT GT series only those models with larger sensors being available with the Birger option are listed. They also come in F mount by default and can be further ordered with M42 or M58 (american Universal Mount).
3.) AVT PvAPI SDK v1.24 (recent version in 2011) supports the following operating systems: Windows 2000 (32-bit only), XP, Vista and 7, various Linux distros incl. Ubuntu, Suse, Redhat, Fedora and MontaVista, QNX v6.3 and 6.4 and OS X v10.4.x and v10.5.x (all x86 and x64, if not noted otherwise).
The GigE Sample Viewer runs on Windows.
4.) Gain Control: Most of above models offer 0 - 32dB, GX1920 being an exception with 24dB and GT4100 only gains up to 26dB.
5.) Ambient operating temperature range is 0 - 50°C, humidity tolerance 20 - 80% non-condensing for all models.
6.) The corresponding PSUs are the 12V AVT #02-8003A for North America and AVT #02-8010C (GE series) or #02-8004A (GX series) for the rest of the world.
7.) The compatible lens control connector for controlling motorized lenses with GX series takes a Hirose 3240-8P plug [AVT #02-7004A]. This option requires the use of TV Zoom or video type auto iris lenses.
8.) The GE series features Mini-SMB input and output ports to connect several cameras in line for group triggering. Use AVT #02-6007A for port-to-port connections (3m). The connector takes an Amphenol 413985-3 for RG174 coax cable.
9.) AVT offers optional tripod plates for the cameras, that is #02-5000A for GE and #02-5030A for GX series.
