Although the lens features a rotating front lens focus mechanism, the filter thread stays in a static, non-rotating position. The lens further features a flare-blocking diaphragm.

The lens design was later licensed to Tokina, who built the 28-70mm F2.8 SV AT-X 287 AF PRO and 28-70mm F2.6-2.8 AT-X 270 AF PRO II based on it. Today this lens is a rare and pricey collectors item.
