Otus lenses are "[...] uncompromising in every respect. [...] Compared to the Milvus lenses and all other current lenses, they display no color fringes, flare or ghosting and deliver images with maximum contrast over the entire image field." (Zeiss Lenspire Team)
The lens is also available as ZF.2 version.
Zeiss offers Lens Gear rings for the Milvus and Otus lens lines to support Mod. 0.8 gear follow focus units. They are made of aluminum and delivered with so-called GumGum rubber bands to protect the lenses' focus rings against scratches. Mounting does without tools. Available is a choice of 4 sizes - Mini with an inner diameter of 62 - 69mm (60 - 67mm with GumGum), Small for a diameter of 71 - 77mm (69 - 75mm with GumGum), Medium for a diameter of 78 - 84mm (76 - 82mm with GumGum) and Large for a diameter of 86 - 93mm (84 - 91mm with GumGum). The Otus 1.4/55 requires the Medium version.
